With rossgardens you get a complete, stress-free garden design package, from early concept beginnings through to the completion of the build. We design for both homes and businesses, and work closely with clients to create exciting and functional outside spaces.

When producing garden designs, the first consideration is the personality, tastes and requirements of the people who will use the space. Understanding a site, its architecture and the surrounding environment then helps to create spaces with a real sense of place.

No garden space is too small or too large. Whether you want window boxes, a small garden design with planters on a balcony, patio or terrace,  or you have a roof garden or more traditional outside space, we can provide a creative garden design ideas and solution for you.

stages

Quality designs are produced by following simple key stages, which you will be guided through. Working in close collaboration through some or all of a series of stages outlined here, we will guide you through and manage the design process so that it is stress-free for you. A design package with rossgardens will be tailored to your individual needs and budget, whether you require a planting plan for a single bed or a complete design package.

Stage A Your free initial consultation
Your garden design starts with a free initial consultation. Simply contact rossgardens and we will arrange to meet at your site for a friendly, informal visit lasting 1 to 3 hours depending on the size and complexity of your outside space. This will allow us to discuss in depth your requirements and explore the potential of your site. You are then sent a written draft brief with details of the design fees to accept so that work on your design can commence.

Stage B Developing your garden design
Once your brief has been developed it’s time for the creative process to begin. rossgardens will produce conceptual ideas for your garden which encompass spatial arrangement, mood, planting and aesthetic considerations. Taking your feedback onboard, conceptual ideas are crystalised into one design proposal, of which you will receive a presentation including coloured, scaled drawings and visualisations to show you the potential for transforming your outside space.

Stage C Detail design and selecting a landscape contractor
A landscape contractor is required to build most gardens. For smaller, more straight-forward projects, there may now be sufficient information for a competent landscape contractor to build your garden. Alternatively, you may wish rossgardens to build your garden or you may want to to build it yourself. For larger or more complex projects, rossgardens will produce the necessary detailed drawings and documents on materials and construction methods required by reputable landscape contractors to prepare competitive quotes for the construction of the hard landscaping in your garden. Quotes will be obtained, analysed and compared so that you can choose who you want to build your garden.

Stage D Your planting design
Your new garden needs a great planting scheme and it’s all about growing the right plants in the right place. Incorporating your personal preferences and feedback, rossgardens will select plants and position them tailored to your design. Plant selection is guided by considerations such as soil type, aspect, screening, size, form, colour, texture, scent, sound, movement and seasonality.

Stage E Building your garden
Should a landscape contractor be required to build your garden, once they are selected, rossgardens can make the building experience as simple for you as possible and ensure that your garden is built to a high quality by acting as Contract Administrator and overseeing the process from start to finish.

Stage F Planting your garden
Now it’s time to bring your garden to life. Having finalised your planting design, rossgardens will prepare the soil and supply and plant your trees, shrubs, grasses, bulbs and other plants, ready to flourish and for you to enjoy.

Stage G Caring for your garden
To keep it looking great, your garden will need looking after. You may like us to produce a written and illustrated garden maintenance manual which will help you to keep it at its best. You may also wish to take advantage of rossgardens’ seasonal after care service, to check on progress and suggest any necessary changes over time. Alternatively, if you would prefer to use the expertise of rossgardens in caring for your garden as it evolves and matures, you can simply choose a care programme tailored especially for your garden, sit back, relax, and enjoy the benefits.
